St. Katharine’s main purpose is to be a retreat house where people from all walks of life, from all faiths or none, can come to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the house and grounds and leave feeling refreshed physically and spiritually.
Our aim is to be as unobtrusive as possible so that you can make the house your own to suit your particular needs. If you wish to spend any part of your retreat in silence our staff will respect that. Larger groups may arrange to have exclusive use of the house and can be completely private, smaller groups and individuals will share some of the facilities but will have rooms designated for their exclusive use.
The main hall is a consecrated Anglican chapel and may be used for worship by all.
For 2020 we have also put together a programme of led Retreats and Quiet Days.
At my previous house, and of course many retreat houses across the country, these are wonderfully uplifting events. We have attempted to get a good variety of topics for this first year. We pray that there is something there for everyone.
If you follow this link, 2020 Retreats and Quiet Days, you will find a list of all our events for this year.
Please click here to download our 2020 Programme Booklet. We hope that there are at least one or two events there that attract you. Please contact the office to book on to one or more of these.
Booking forms and further information can be obtained by contacting the office.
Prices for bedrooms vary slightly depending on facilities. There is a small discount for shared use. Depending on the requirements of each group, ground floor rooms may be booked individually by the hour or the day, or it is possible to book exclusive use of the main house. All meals and biscuits and cakes for morning and afternoon breaks can be provided, including for those with most special dietary needs. Please contact us for more details and current prices.
Please note that the house is usually occupied by groups at weekends, but it is always worth checking if we have any rooms available.

A full day visit may include morning and afternoon biscuits and cake and a two course lunch, plus unlimited hot drinks. It is also possible to visit and bring your own packed lunch. Please check in advance regarding availability, to pre-book meals and to check prices.
